Taiwanese House

Series of 7 collages, colored and painted papers, 21 × 29.7 cm
2021

This architectural series is inspired by houses I photographed during my travels. Whether in the city or the countryside, they are often made of concrete and tiles to adapt to strong weather variability.

The recurrence of cubic forms is balanced by the creativity of the owners, who are always eager to add interesting ornamental details: a balustrade with a geometric pattern, window grilles with slightly Art Nouveau–style flowers…

Sometimes, weathering or nature creates colors and marks on the concrete that reveal the beauty of the material. These are all small, inspiring elements to translate into collages.

This series of collages was created influenced by the architecture of countryside houses in Taiwan. Concrete and cubic houses, concrete style, they offered graphic and pattern details inspirational to create collages.
