Orchid Island

Series of 7 collages, 2022–2024

This series follows a trip to Orchid Island, located two hours by boat southeast of Taiwan’s main island.

Distinctive for its population and a culture that is more oceanic than Asian, this island—part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, with its black sand beaches and steep mountains—impresses through the raw power of the elements it radiates.

The confrontation of skies and colors marked, for me, the culmination of my experiments with landscape collage.
