Inspired by Asian silk painting scrolls, these paintings depict an imaginary tropical nature designed to be hung on a wall. Meant to be read from bottom to top, they are colorful and lush. The silk is framed by solid color side bands to emphasize the composition.

About the scroll paintings…

Originally from China, scroll paintings are presented in the form of a scroll supported by a thin wooden rod and weighted by another. They are unrolled to be displayed indoors or outdoors. Traditionally, scrolls are hung for short periods and can be changed according to the seasons or special occasions. These works can be created on silk or paper and may also include calligraphy. The foreground appears at the bottom, while the middle ground and background unfold toward the center and top.
